About Me/C.V

Luke Appleby Journalist PhotographerI’m  a 24-year-old multi-media journalist and photographer in Wellington, New Zealand.

I am currently working as a journalism tutor at Whitireia Polytechnic, and also produce news-photo slide show content for National Bank, ANZ Bank and Koru Lounges in airports in New Zealand and Australia.

In my spare time I like to take photos, make comics, go fishing or play guitar (although spare time seems to be rare these days…)

Thanks for having a look at my little patch of the web, I’m always keen to hear your opinions on my site and posts, so please feel free to leave a comment, suggestion or criticism below.

You can email me at luke_applebyNOSPAM@hotmail.com, just remove the NOSPAM bit. Cheers!

Appraisals

“Luke is the epitome of the next generation of journalists. He has all the basic reporting and writing skills journalists have always needed, but he also knows how the new media works and where journalism has to adapt.” — Jim Tucker, Programme Manager, Whitireia Journalism School

“Luke is one of the mainstay providers of content for a daily news service provided by Content Ltd into bank main branches and airline lounges. This is a high profile environment requiring good editorial judgment and attention to detail. Luke is a vital link in the chain to getting that result day in, day out. He is personable, flexible and talented. — Pattrick Smellie, Owner, Content Ltd

“Luke is a self-starter who takes responsibility for his tasks and thinks outside the box when things don’t go to plan. He brings a level of maturity to his work and typically ensures things get done on time, to a high standard. I would regard him as a reliable asset for any employer.” — Jonathan Underhill, Owner, Content Ltd

“Luke always asked for more when he had completed tasks, his productivity was very good. His stories were excellent, and he went the extra mile on many. He is willing to learn, asks questions, listens and his standard of writing is very good.” — Pauline Sutton, Chief Reporter, Hawke’s Bay Today Communities

“Luke has carried out a number of freelance photography assignments for our organization. He is able to work independently and use his initiative to deliver excellent results. He is professional and easy to deal with, and can be relied on to get the job done efficiently and effectively. I’d be happy to recommend Luke as a great, general-purpose freelance photographer.” — Victor Billot, Communications Officer, Maritime Union of New Zealand
